Richard Helland -Watercolors
Dick is a painter residing in Palantine, Illinois. Before pursuing painting, Dick had a successful career in graphic design and art direction in the fields of publishing and advertising. Most recently Dick served as Sr. V.P. Executive Creative Director in a major Chicago marketing agency and worked on many national consumer accounts. He has received numerous awards nationally and internationally for his graphic design.
Painting is my vehicle to creatively express and share my impressions of favorite experiences that I have had in my life. The process of painting is every bit as exciting and rewarding to me as is the finished painting. I am
more interested in conveying my impressions and capturing the emotional qualities of an experience than I am in rendering a realistic image. I hope that others will enjoy my interpretations of these experiences through my work.
Carl Geenen - Sculpture
I earned a B.F.A. in fine art from California College of Arts and Crafts in 2004 and lived in Sacramento where I maintained a ceramic studio and viewing area and performed metal work for the Art Foundry Gallery. My work has been exhibited in dozens of galleries throughout California and Wisconsin. I have completed commissions for murals, metal fabrication, and ceramic sculptures.I believe contemplation of oneʼs personal feelings is required to understand oneʼs true self. My works encourage serious reflection through emotional and psychological self-portraits. Through my work I aim to make sense of my own experiences using images accessible to a vast audience.Though deeply personal, the situations I express are universal and timeless. This approach provides the viewer with an interactive experience that sparks feelings they may be familiar with from their own lives. This ignites self-reflection and contemplation, which allows the audience to develop a lasting emotional relationship with the work.

Thomas Buchs - Oil Painting
"I try to capture the light and atmosphere of a scene
within a few hours. I believe that a painting is not
just a two dimensional illusion, but also that of a
moment in life, captured by an artist on canvas”
Jeffrey Noska - Ceramics
"One of my goals in clay is to take the notion of Art,
traditionally reserved for walls and pedestals, and
place this work into the hands and homes of those
seeking to add more aesthetic quality to their lives.”

Griffin Gallery Fine Art 5 Year Aniversary this May
Location: Griffin Gallery Fine Art LLC, Oconomowoc WI
Event Dates: 5/1/2009 -
5/31/2009
Reception: 5/15/2009 • 6 to 9pm
On Friday, May 15th Oconomowoc's Griffin Gallery Fine Art celebrated it's fifth anniversary with a private reception for the gallery's patrons. Committed to the community, Griffin Gallery yearly hosts the Helen Farnsworth Mears children's exhibit and the Roger's Memorial exhibit. New exhibits are featured every two months.
This summer, the gallery will again conduct a plein air painting competition, Mid-Summers Brush, in conjunction with WIPAPA, Wisconsin Plein Air Painters Association starting on July 24th with two plein air workshops by Darron Lillian. The art produced in the competition will be sold in a silent auction during Sounds of Oconomowoc on July 31st.
Griffin Gallery Fine Art features original fine art and is owned and operated by member artists. Most of the paintings are oils, two of the artists paint with pastels, and one makes large hand painted mono-prints. A number of the artists are plein air painters who have painted in the Indiana plein air competition, Door County, northern Michigan, and southeast Wisconsin. Two are portrait painters who paint portraits on commission. One illustrates children's books in addition to producing oil paintings. The gallery also features commissioned art work by non-member artists and bi-monthly guest artists including sculpture and hand painted furniture.
Griffin Gallery Fine Art is located at 133 East Wisconsin Avenue in Oconomowoc. Gallery hours are Sunday noon to 4 pm, Wednesday 10 am to 6 pm, Friday 10 am to 8 pm, Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, and by appointment. There is free public parking behind the building. Phone 262-567-1826 or see info@GriffinGalleryFineArtLLC.com for more information.
